In Reception we have two classes.

Mrs. Chaplin teaches in Red Class Tuesday - Friday and Mrs Kostova on Mondays

Mrs Baylis teaches in Green Class on Mondays and Tuesdays and Mrs Pullen Wednesday - Fridays

Outdoor learning is a huge part of our day, and we spend a large part of it free flowing between the indoor and outdoor classrooms. Our fantastic outdoor area includes a mud pit and kitchen, den building area, obstacle course building opportunities, a water exploration area, sand pit as well as literacy and maths sheds.  We also have a great bike track and climbing equipment. 

Right from the first day, we encourage the children to become creative and independent in their learning, using the resources available to them to create games, imaginary worlds and to solve problems together. 

The Prime Areas of learning are continuously developed in this environment as the children learn to communicate their ideas and thoughts through negotiation and conversation with each other and staff.

Staff are on hand to enable the development of conversations through interactions that are rich in new vocabulary and language.  They are skilled in supporting children to work harmoniously together in order to over come any difficulties in the negotiation of sharing resources and ideas as well as supporting self regulation. 

The children have acces to a wide variety of resources to encourage the development of both gross and fine motor skills and the children use them creatively to bring their thoughts and ideas to life. 

In Reception we are supported by experienced learning support assistants Mrs Kostova and Miss Cotton.
