Sporting Events

At Ledbury Primary School, children across all ages are given the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting events including: lacrosse, tag rugby, hockey, football, netball and cricket.

Children are proud to represent their school as part of a sporting team and enjoy writing up match reports as part of our school newsletter to share their success with the wider school community.

Chance to Shine Award

Ledbury Primary School has recently been awarded the Chance to Shine School of the Year award by Hereford Cricket. We are so proud of this special achievement!

Football Success at LPS

We have a number of different football teams at Ledbury Primary School that cover a range of skills, passions and abilities. This year, we have already participated in a Year 3 & 4 girls' football competition (where the girls remained unbeaten all day), taken our Y6 boys' team to the HSFA County Football Tournament where they were knocked out on penalties in the semi-final and hosted a number of after-school events. Recently, football amongst out Year 6 girls has really taken off and we have entered a team into the Summer School Games 2023 competition which they cannot wait for.

Hockey at Ledbury

Over the last couple of years, hockey has proven to be a very popular sport at LPS (perhaps this is something to do with a number of staff being keen hockey players themselves) which has helped our hockey players to strive for success and be determined to succeed in lessons, at club and for their school team. Our most recent team has taken part in a number of school cluster hockey matches where they won 2 games, drew another and only narrowly lost in one game.

LPS CRICKET TEAM

So far this year, Ledbury Primary School has proudly had a range of cricket teams that has suited a range of abilities. At the start of 2023, a team of Y6 cricketers (who had never played competitive cricket before) set off to Hereford Racecourse where they took part in a School Games competition. Despite less than ideal cricketing weather, the team learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. All children demonstrated the School Games Values of 'honesty', 'passion', 'determination', 'teamwork', 'self-respect' and 'self-belief'.

As in previous years, we are looking forward to attending some more cricket festivals and matches in the coming summer months. We hope our brilliant teams can replicate the fun, teamwork and success of our teams from last year - watch this space!
